About bike fit estimates
A bike fit calculator estimates a starting position from body measurements, bike type, and riding preferences. Checkered uses inseam to estimate saddle height and combines other measurements to suggest a geometry shortlist. These numbers are a starting point for comparison, not a diagnosis or an individual professional fit.
- How is saddle height estimated?
- The model starts with inseam multiplied by 0.883, measured from the bottom bracket centre to the saddle top. It then presents a small adjustment range; the result is an estimate, not a universal rule.
- Is the frame result an exact size to buy?
- No. Compare the result with the manufacturer's geometry chart, especially stack and reach. Different brands can use different size labels for similar geometry.
- What if the suggested position feels uncomfortable?
- Do not force yourself into the estimate. Recheck measurements and seek an individual fit assessment for pain, numbness, or repeated discomfort.
